BYD BY ATTO2 review of car 2026-10
I drove in a BYD BY ATTO2
adac . de / rund - ums - fahrzeug / autokatalog / marken -
modelle / byd / byd - atto - 2 -test/
I drove a Plug in hybrid, I didn't like it.
Chinese manufacturer.
Substantual import tax in EU, maybe into UK soon too.
- Stealing/ fighting me for the steering wheel, particulalrly nasty
driving round sharpish junction curve on autoroute round Brussels,
in direction Calais to Aachen
- fonts minute on screen, needed glasses to see if in mode
EV or HEV etc,
- it kept coming up with crap warnings,
- a full page of small font excrement on the 2nd giant
[GPS/android] screen. Impossible to read all excrement in
motion, only times it came up to read was in motion
though.
- Final insult was after it kept distracting me, &
giving tiny errors I could not read without reaching for
glasses, & stealing/fighting me for the steering, it kept
telling me to concentrate on road! If it had been a human
repeatedly distracting me from driving, I'd have dumped the
human as a safety hazard.
- As it was a hire vehicle & I was on an urgent
mission, I had neither time nor incentive to turn the
excrement off, beyond learning how to turn whole centre
screen off.
- Waste of blank space those tiny fonts on driver's screen,
pointless inaccurate simulation of other objects adjacent,
particularly inaccurate in motion, Doubtless the fools who
commissioned it thought it was cute, & a free spin off
from software headed toward driver-less vehicles..
- Also another massive waste of space on car body,
Fat pig of an SUV,
Big car outside, smallish inside,
- awfuly bad rear view,
part compensated by good camera
& screen.
- I ignored the big centre screen inc. & all apps
except finding off button, no time to learn transient stuff
on a hire car.
- I didn't find & learn GPS/Navi, I used a screen stick
on TomTom & my Android
with mapfactor.com navigator
- No USB-A sockets. Just 2 USB-C & an inductor for
smart phones that can use it.
(discovered when I was driving & my screen stick on
TomTom GPS kept flattening its battery. I realised I'd taken
one of my cheap car cigarette socket to USB-A converters that
only deliver 0.5Amp, & I'd left at home the TomTom
adapter that delivers more current.
Odds
- Plugging in the hybrid each night at own garage to charge was only
nice thing I recall, saved on petrol.
- Dashboard displayed 910 km = on full tank,
- 30% battery is what it goes down to in EV mode, that auto
switches to HEV mode to burn petrol.
- 5.7 km / 100 litre,
- wheel pressures in uk: 225, 237, 237, 245 : pumped to 245
= 36 psi = 2.45 bar
