Date Constraints

• Weekends: Hausmeister = caretaker usually not around to unlock gates, but often hof is left unlocked: Sat 2023-09-30 & Sat 2023-11-11 it was not locked on diagonal or vertical.
  If it needs days when Munich hausmeister = caretaker is here to unlock gate then :
  • Not Friday for Day 1 - Load if SaturdayDay 2 - Drive To Aachen is preceded by van # parked in hof overnight.

• Not Sundays for Day 2 - Drive To Aachen: Though autobahns are allowed for non commercial trucks (& commercial fresh fruit veg etc), I would rather not be stopped by police to inspect papers, inspect load lashed down well, but see its full, & send off to weigh station, loose time & maybe get a fine if over weight.
• Not Sunday for Day 4 (or 3) Unload - Truck may protrude beyond brick wall. Clumps of morning idlers strolling to church, whereas rest of week it is just individuals walking by, easier for them to pass by, not spectate & be a nuisance between truck & side stair up to main entrance.
• Not Beginning or End of month chance of congestion conflict with other removal trucks, even possibly of same staircase lift.
• Mon-Fri: has chances a Munich flat renovation / services van might park in 2. hof, but that is not so often. Probably a lot less lift occupancy than weekends, esp. if another neighbour is planning a move.

Bring yellow jacket. & suggest strong shoes/ boots for protection. No bedding or towels or flannels needed, we will supply at Munich & Aachen. Index How To Lift Do not rush, we do not want damaged people or objects. If too heavy use 2 people or trolley or platform wagon = dolly. Use brain, it is stronger than muscles, pre-plan rotations especially when lifting as a team. Ensure adequate space from people & objects. Not with bent back, Not with legs wide (rupture risk), Not jerking. Caution with other peoples toes & fingers. If trolley has heavy load, tie a rope round wheel axle with a 2nd man below pulling up on the rope Beware hitting other peoples ankles (or buildings/ furniture) with the axle ends that stick out from trolley a bit. I have marked Munich trolley as best as possible, Aachen not yet. Can use straps or ropes under furniture over shoulders. It can be easier to carry a plank behind than in front. Keep label of box visible to help loading in to van, & unloading Index Freezer Warning Usually has fragile plastic screw out feet for leveling. First remove # Microwave to make freezer lighter. Gently slide out freezer on tiles. One person tilts freezer, while another screw in feet (wood blocks are available to protect fingers). Do not lay freezer horizontal. Do not lift with back of freezer to trolley, which would damage pipes. Do not lift freezer with door hings side to trolley unless door is taped/ roped closed. If door is roped closed, ensure rope/ belt does not pass round & include fragile radiator/ heat exchanger, rope must exclude radiator, & be slid in between radiator & back of freezer body. Do ensure trolley bolts do not impale freezer surface (the Munich blue trolley bolts are now padded, the Aachen trolley is not yet). Load freezer with (removed) door handle side to trolley Index Microwave Warning Microwave ovens are much heavier one side (probably the side with transformer behind the controls). The big black fronted one is a 2 man job ! Especially from that height! Ensure Julian JJLATER has removed or taped down the circular plate. 2 Step ladders available for team. Easy way might be for 2 men on step ladders, one each side, to lift black microwave & lower & out to 2 more men standing on floor, & they lower out to a pile of # crates making a temporary support column. Car Wheels Warning are Dangerous on stairs, massive spinning torque, heavy & bounce, very easily break fingers etc. They are to be rolled down very slowly a single step at a time, with the gloved human human below braking & stopping the roll at every step, before starting next step ! Desk (old oak) Warning has weak centre panels, thus move it with trolley taking weight on edge, not with the 5 wheel box rollers Furniture small castor wheels Are only made of plastic, only good on carpet, easily broken on concrete with gaps between stones, take care, Go slow: do not break wheels of furniture. 2 Recliner chairs have Very Fragile irreplaceable rotator plastic ring rails under Julian to dis-assemble before team moves them. Crates & Work Bench To avoid intermediate bending down with cartons: Anywhere we will have to pick up cartons again, we will put cartons on top of empty beer crates (or work bench), eg between Unloading lift Carrying down half a flight & down one more step to outside concrete path (if trolley in use elsewhere) Rolling to van using platform roller or chair base rollers Ground at back of truck (if tail gate is up being unloaded): on to tail gate Truck tail gate to front of truck: Dont lower cartons to ground (or flush to tail-gate) unless you have to: Rather than the normal system for cartons, of tail-gate = hebe-buhne lowered to half height to receive cartons, then tail-gate raised, then cartons lifted from floor of tail-gate, dumped on lower friction floor, dragged/ pushed across to front of truck + then a full hard lift for Julian in van to stack. Instead, we will also have 7 empty beer # crates, inverted some can be tied two together, & some loose; all top face down, for { better support of cartons, smoother sliding on metal deck of vehicle, & maybe use as a step to tail-gate } Work bench A few strong cartons could also be left unmoved on tail-gate back edge corner, but better beer crates that will slide easier in truck. When carriers arrive from flat to truck: If tail-gate is fully up, carriers do not have to lower cartons to ground. Tail-gate can be lowered fully to ground, so when tail-gate is raised, cartons can be lifted & carried deep into truck at man height Index 16:00 Weekdays & { 11:00 & 12:00 } Saturdays Hertz Munich Closes. Approx 17:00 Hired Team finishes & paid Approx 18:00+ Julian + Gary drive truck off to park it for the night. If we can not park in Hof#1 after loading, then drive truck to a parking space further out, maybe eg Sachsen Str near Schyrenbad waldfriedhof, maybe South West end of Furstenrieder Str Around Theresienwiese, though North East by U-Bahn has some restriction, maybe no trucks 23:00-07:00 or vice versa, drive clockwise most convenient Trade off: Earlier light makes driving & parking easier. Late makes parking restrictions easier. Index Approx 20:00 Julian hand Gary: Cardboard with intermediate cities in block caps. + An android, loaded with navigator app & maps loaded & route to Aachen pre programmed. Aachen house keys Index Julian Locks & chocks building door open Rolls, slides, drags cartons on crates from truck tail gate, in to van, & lifts into position, arranging for stability & efficiency & roping the load in tight. Melanie To Direct Despatch Order & Log Weight To Van Biggest Heaviest Things First # Freezer, # Microwave, Desk x 2, Sofa after square stuff, Long wood panels will be held against van wall by square furniture. Send boxes from under & around dining table before boxes from window end. Big Heavy Cartons First Smallest trivial boxes may be tossed in last, into empty giant boxes at back of truck Despatch boxes from under & around dining table before window end. Only after sufficient piles of boxes are on truck to put progressively on top: Light weight & low density stuff eg Balcony chairs, cushions, kitchen chairs, CD racks, drawers from under bed (translucent with rollers). Melanie to Log all weight that leaves door of flat (thus anything in staircase waiting for trolley or lift or men, Melanie has already logged as it passes the flat main door door frame). Log all weight leaving flat to ensure vehicle is not overloaded & big fine. Index Moving Team Carries down to truck & lifts on to beer crates & work bench & low planks on small wheels, all on truck hydraulic tail gate. Tools Available Gary No lifting of heavy stuff, leave it to the team. Log all weight that arrives on to truck tail gate = hebe- buhne Control tail-gate lift (Julian knows how), Controls in tail gate & side of truck. Keeping everyone (team & stray kids) bodies, fingers & toes away from moving tail-gate And controls. If needed, steady stuff in van, while Julian ties straps round.

• Day 2 - Drive Munich To Aachen

  What time in the morning should truck leave hof #1 by: Plumber Deuter did not arrive in van till 09:00 on 2023-11-14. Many other workmen arrive by 07:45 & quietly unload till 08:00 Some in summer eg working on Guillermo' s flat adjacent, started noise by 07:00, (drive by [Integra or intermediate employer] to work Sat. & Sun. too !) Julian to ensure no first night baggage is in back of truck, (cos load may shift, the Aachen drive slopes down at back & we want to ensure we can close tail-gate first night in Aachen). I will drive on average South from flat, away from city centre, crowded streets & glue trotels, till we join Mittlerer ring. by routes I have considered that avoid low rail bridges. Drive to Aachen Speed Limits & other regs. Index Park Truck In Aachen Stop across drive & on corner. Julian Unlocks chain, wheels bins to pavement, Julian opens garage door so Gary will not feel trapped next. Gary dons yellow jacket Gary waits for no traffic, then obstruct any more traffic then guides while Julian reverses on right lock into drive, Julian straighten up allowing max clearance on passenger side (where tail-gate controls will be, & also as through route). (Bins can not be rolled back from pavement, single file near the tail-gate at back drivers side, as truck is too wide.) Julian will park truck a bit over 1 tail-gate length forward, & with enough clearance from drivers uphill side, that next morning Julian can reverse truck a bit then lower tail gate down from vertical to horizontal, protruding perhaps half a foot into garage, beyond & over the top of the garage's weak steel door frame. A minimal protrusion will allow tail gate to rotate down into garage without need of further truck movement. Index Security Bins can be used both sides of truck to stop public casually walking in to garage (has happened before). During day, Garage door will be close-able to inches for human & large animal security, just not sufficient to block mice. Overnight, For truck content security, tail-gate will go up, & garage door can then go fully down. Index Tail-gate Positioning Will make it easier to roll furniture from truck direct into garage on smooth concrete, avoiding trolley wheels catching on uneven stones, avoiding weak drain cover steel bars, avoiding very weak loose steel that matches to where garage door closes. If truck is only half unloaded 1st day, it can merely go forward a metre stay on our drive, & close lorry & garage doors for the night. Next morning the lorry can drive forward for more space outside, & park on [some combo of] road our drive grass, & complete the unload. That will be for minimum time. Run water in house to { remove any air locks could cause water hammer, & avoid legionela }.

• Day 3 - Optional Unload [or Rest] Day - Which ?

  Label all levels & rooms with red tape same time as show Gary around. Severely cut back bush by stairs to edge of house to allow loads to be wall side. Cover glass & signs on far back room with a poster. Remove M's yellow painting from stairs level 1.7 to eg far back room Clear new room = 0-6 Decide later: Maybe Lock cellar bar both sides. Maybe initially lock main door to kitchen level & top flat. Anything for those levels, deliver to one below. Optional: Bed level spiral staircase: seal with a sheet & rope "to save energy dust noise" Lock door at level 0.5 Buy food for Aachen team if not brought from Munich. cheese & salami & bread easier than pizza, + beer from stock, for lunch. Prepare Aachen To Unload Hair dryer & towels against rain (men & furniture) Antiseptic against cuts bruises. Kettle & coffee & glasses in new room. Trolley from new room (0-6) to garage 0-2. Pad trolley bolts so they will not scratch Mark trolley bolts to reduce risk to ankles. Shims: Make & install slivers of wood (from under work bench), or metal sheet from Gruental Garage, for adjacent/over lips of garage side door, [& Maybe level 1 front door ?] to smooth transit of loaded trolley. [If necessary fetch planks for on drive under truck tail gate, to smoother bridge the gap in length to garage concrete. Maybe strengthen Orange & Black trolley with 'L' brackets if time. Find wood under workbench to chock 4 & 5 wheel movers on sloped truck floor

• Day 4 Optional Rest [or Unload Truck] At Aachen - Which ?

  Julian: Lecture to Aachen team: See Munich lecture, plus add: The out- of- house stone steps are only supported one end. Please go easy on them, only put one heavy box on a trolley before pulling up, & veer toward the wall side, not the rail side. A stone step of same type at back of house (which we will Not be using) broke long ago, & a neighbours house (downhill) also broke, also was supported only one side. Do not trip or catch ankle on orange marked steel that protrudes maybe 5 cm from house wall at bottom of main external stairs to house. Aachen haus tur measured by Ingo 91 cm wide The orange painted trolley is weaker than the blue trolley, as the orange has no 'L' shaped brackets under the base black painted horizontal flange. Drive slopes down (maybe 7 cm ?) at back of truck, So do not place loads on 4 or 5 wheel mover platforms unless chocked with a bit of wood, else they may roll out accelerating & damage people or things. Truck Unload, first all into garage 0-1, then later truck will be driven forward off drive, to allow more clearance for large objects out from Garage 0-1 to pavement, & into garage 0-0 & up external staircase to Levels [1-3]; Every box & piece of furniture is labeled with (on left of box) Level No. - Room No. & (on right of box) Kilos. • Day 5 - Drive Truck Aachen to Munich

  Traveling light Aachen to Munich No empty containers back to Munich, no empty suitcases, cartons etc. Just Julian's & Gary's back packs of clothes for journey, & laptops. Exception: Munich blue trolley may travel to Aachen. If so it would come back to Munich, Aachen orange trolley would be reversed & stack on top. Could also take a laptop or backpack. Not a problem from Munich Truck return At rental via U bahn to flat. A one way hire of truck, swapping for a one way car in Aachen is not possible: would have cost extra: { 900 euro for truck for one less day, + car rental one way} A truck cant drive into Munich flat car park, too high, with a truck Julian could only drive to main gate, dump cases, & leave Melanie alone to shuttle empties between 2 heaps, successive heap remaining in sight of Melanie, cos Gary needed with truck to park At rental & witness condition of returned truck. Aachen to Munich .. continued .. Day 5 Drive to Munich Top up fuel shortly before arrival in Munich (cheaper than at rental I assume, & assume need to return full not empty?) Arrive in time to return & check in vehicle to rental agency. Or find an parking space for enormous vehicles - Where ? & return early next morning to check in vehicle.
