Munich: Flat To Truck:
- Ultra worst case of lift failure is not
calculated
- Worst case, Assume it takes a man 5 mins to
hand carry a single 10 kilo box from flat with
open door, to truck tailgate in Hof #1 &
return empty handed.
(It took 40 second to walk (with shopping
thus slower) from steel gate to where truck would
park in hof#1, & another 2 mins 15 sec to
wait for lift & up, unlock, into office, dump
boxes, glasses on, find pen &
paper.)
That is 120 Kilo/ hour. 2000 Kilo = 16.7 hours.
With 4 men = 4.2 hours
- But we will use wheels to move more a
bit slower (& empty wheeled carrier back a
bit faster). Assume 30 kilo every 8 minutes, =
66.7 trips x 8 mins. = 533 mins, / 4 men = 133
mins = 2+ hours
-
Avoid too many men:
- Per man fee to agency.
- Men will want to earn more money, not
want to just earn 2 hours per man, may slow
down if work is disappearing too fast. It
costs them traveling time too, so like when I
worked in a bar, & wanted to work longer
than 2 hours they will want to work minimum 3
or 4 hours
- Men would waste too much time waiting for
lift.
- There are few big heavy items needing
multiple men, we do not need matched teams of
eg 2 x 2
- There is no need to load truck in minimum
time, unlike a move within one city in one
day; Impossible with our day long drive.
-
Avoid too few men:
- It would drag on, men will tire, work
slower, less cost efficient, more risk of
accident.
- Greater risk if a man fails to turn
up.
- If one man skives off slow working, its
easier achieved with less colleagues to
notice, less of a team spirit to progress the
work.
- Assume 30 kilo every 8 minutes, = 66.7 trips
x 8 mins. = 533 mins, / 3 men = 133 mins =
3 hours, about as much as one wants to
work before a break.
- Longer to load only if I can get a truck with more
than 2 Ton under the arch of Hof#1, but that's
unlikely.
- Conclusion: 3 men from agency for 3+ hours
= 10+ man hours
- 2023-12-18 it took about 2 hours for 2 men
carrying & julian loading into van. Unloading
was not timed.
- 2024-09-02 14:00-__:__ for just 2 men
-
Aachen: Truck To House:
- All stuff will first be emptied from truck
into garage, or through garage into house level
0, regardless which floor level it is later
destined for.
- The truck on drive is too wide to allow men
to squeeze past carrying stuff.
- Until truck is completely unloaded &
driven off drive, nothing moves from Erzberger
garage to { gruental garage or via pavement &
stairs up to higher levels }
- Internal staircase between Level 0 & 1 is
only usable by light hand loads, not big boxes or
trolley.
- We will leave as much as possible on level
0
- It'll be a lot quicker to unload, as no long
walk from truck, no staircase & lift
congestion unlike Munich.
- Some boxes (especially some labelled level 0)
have small stuff for multi levels, to be opened
by J & M on level 0, & split &
carried up later.
- Some boxes labelled for levels 1 & 2 can
go up later, on / after 2nd truck delivery.
- Most boxes labeled for levels 3 were only
labeled such, so as to clear working space on
level 0. No particular need to take up.
- Stuff for Gruental garage has no need to be
moved from Erzberger garage till after all truck
trips finished & car arrives, (unless
Erzberger garage gets too congested).
- Only after truck unloading is finished, if
men have time remaining, if not raining, after
truck is moved off drive & parked elsewhere:
we could send some especially mouse hazarded
things (eg some mel. kartons labelled 2-5 &
2-6, (clothes, mattresses, cushions) up to higher
levels
- The garage should not be a bottle neck as 2
doors off it into house.
- Unloading will be quicker as Julian will be
free to help unload, whereas on loading Julian is
busy in truck placing stuff & tieing up
- Ingo will be paid to help unload
- Conclusion: Hire one man from
agency
-
Aachen: Later Up From Level 0, Hire More
Men
- At a later date after last truck has gone,
when Melanie is also there to supervise, & on
a dry day, we can engage a team of men to carry
up from Erzberger garage via pavement into
house.
- Carrying up into house will be a lot slower
as no lift unlike Munich, but we will have 2
trolleys etc.
- Conclusion: Hire two or more ? men
That can be done at shorter notice to suit us
& the weather, no van hire to synchronise
with, probably wont need agency, use men we've
hired before on trucks.
